What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct health care profession that combines the wisdom of nature with the rigors of modern science. Naturopathic medicine emphasizes prevention, treatment and the promotion of optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and modalities that encourage the self-healing process.

How is a Naturopathic Doctor trained?

Naturopathic doctors receive 4-5 years of medical education and clinical training at accredited Naturopathic Medical schools. They are trained extensively in modern diagnostic techniques (including interpreting labs and prescribing medication if they decide to). They also learn the same physical exams and medical history taking skills as primary care MDs. Naturopathic Doctors must pass a rigorous national board exam, which include basic sciences, diagnostic and therapeutic subjects, and clinical sciences, in order to become licensed.

Will you work with other healthcare providers?

Yes, my goal is to provide adjunct care and work as a team with your other healthcare providers. I am more than happy to communicate with them about any treatments you have received under my care.

What if I am currently taking prescribed medication?

As a naturopathic doctor, I am trained in pharmacology and am mindful of herb-drug interactions. Our goal together can be either to continue the medication with adjunct/complimentary care, or slowly taper and/or reduce medication use over time. However, it is best to maintain your relationship with the medical provider who prescribed you these medications in order to help manage those prescriptions.

Do you take insurance?

I am considered "out of network" in the state of Colorado. For information on how to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, please call them directly and then I can provide you with a superbill.

Which conditions do you treat?

Naturopathic Doctors (ND's) are trained in primary care. I am able to treat acute conditions ranging from a cough to more chronic conditions, however, my focus is in gastrointestinal conditions, autoimmune disease, reproductive/sexual health for men and women, mental health, endocrine and metabolic disorders. I am also open to treating any condition that is not listed here and/or will provide a referral if your condition is beyond my expertise.

Do you work with children?

I am happy to work with little ones when it comes to adjunct/complimentary care, I just ask that you are also seeing a primary care pediatric MD or DO in conjunction with my care.
